Inpatient care includes a residential stay and continuous structure. Outpatient programs allow participants to live at home while attending scheduled treatment.
Inpatient treatment
A residential setting may be recommended when a person needs medical stabilization, separation from substances, a protected environment or around-the-clock support.
Partial hospitalization
PHP provides much of the daytime structure of a residential program, but participants return home rather than staying overnight.
Intensive outpatient
IOP schedules several focused sessions each week and may suit people who have a stable home environment and must continue appropriate work, school or family responsibilities.
Outpatient therapy
Standard outpatient care is less intensive and is often used for continuing support or as a step down from a higher level.
